How to Format s60v3 and s60v5 phones!

Sometimes your s60 phone might give you problems like performing tasks too slow, getting hanged often or even it might not get start at all. If you are having any such problem and have tried to solve it by every possible way but failed, resetting or formatting your phone might be the only solution.
What it does is change the phone settings to the default factory settings or completely formats your phone to make it as new as it was when you bought it.

Note: Before you format the phone, be sure-

* That you have made a backup of your important data like contacts, messages, files, etc. Because a hard format will delete all user data including the installed applications.

* That your phone is fully charged. Because if the battery goes down during this procedure, it might result in inconsistent state of your device.

* While performing any of the methods, the phone will ask for Security/Lock Code which is 12345 by default.

1. Soft Reset: With this method, the phone settings are restored to the default factory settings. It does not delete files or remove any installed applications. To do this reset press *#7780# in the dialpad.

2. Hard Reset: This actually formats the phone completely by removing all the bugs and errors including all installed applications and other user data present on your phone. To do this reset press *#7370# in the dialpad.

If due to any problem you are unable to go to the dialer screen of your mobile to enter the above mentioned codes, then follow the alternative way to Hard Reset:-

*Switch Off the device first.*

1. For most of the phones: Press and Hold down the keys Green/Talk + 3 + * . Now Switch On the device, and keep them pressed untill you see "Formatting" screen.

2. For Nokia 5800 XM (and similar phones): In this case, press and hold the Red(End) + Green(Call) + Camera Button and Switch On the mobile. Release the keys when formatting starts.

3. For Nokia N97: Press and hold the Shift key + Space Bar + BackShift and Switch On the phone while keeping them pressed. Release the keys when formatting starts.

Restore the backups when the phone has been formatted successfully.
